Tina started Pilates starting in 2004 as a student, and then completed her comprehensive education with Peak Pilates under the guidance of Clare Dunphy-Hemani and Pamela Garcia. Since then, Tina’s attended multiple workshops including Clare’s Advanced Teaching Seminar and has taken twice-weekly lessons for over a decade. As advisor with the Elevate program, Tina incorporates her previous experiences to help Clare create a thoughtful, purposeful, and encouraging program geared towards empowering mentees to make the best possible experience for their clients.
Tina currently teaches in her private studio in New Hampshire. Her career began as an engineer and math teacher. After injuring her ACL and wanting to learn more about anatomy, she earned a master’s degree in kinesiology and sport/exercise psychology. This program validated through research why it’s important in Pilates to help our students learn the work and become more independent.
Tina found her career constantly evolving, beginning as a professional engineer in the consulting and mechanicall engineering industries, followed by teaching high school mathematics in Maine. A twist of fate introduced Tina to Pilates in 2004, when a sports injury sidelined her activities. Her physical therapist accompanied her to a Pilates session, and he introduced her to this exciting world of movement. While Tina thought she was enthusiastic about Pilates, she encountered a new level of passion when she was introduced to Pamela Garcia in her teacher training. Tina's most recent evolution occurred following a torn ACL when she wanted to learn more about anatomy. One course turned into a master's degree in kinesiology and sport/exercise psychology. The program was an excellent opportunity to highlight the potential of Pilates through research. Due to this in-depth study, Tina firmly believes in getting her clients to own their practice and utilizes her vast experiences to make Pilates accessible to people of all abilities to achieve freedom of movement.
